TSTM Inc. Celebrates National COOP Month October 2023
On May 11th 1935, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed an Executive Order establishing the Rural Electrification Administration.
As Part of the “New Deal” The REA, as it would become known, would provide loans, and other assistance, so that rural Cooperatives, basically groups of Farmers, could build, and run, their own electrical distribution systems.
The Rural Electrification Administration is considered one of the most immediate and profound successes in the history of federal policy making in the United States. Within 2 years it helped bring electricity to some 1.5 million farms through 350 rural cooperatives in 45 of the 48 states. By 1953, more than 90 percent of U.S. farms had electricity. Today there are more than 900 electric cooperatives in 47 states.
It is impossible to think of life without safe, dependable, electrical power. This month we celebrate the Cooperative model and say thank you to all our customers and cooperative owners that trust us with their business.
You keep Rural America strong.
Congratulations and THANK YOU from TSTM Inc.
